Nepal: Never Ending Peace and Love

Nepal is a beautiful country bordered by China to the North, India to the South, it is a land locked country in the stunning surroundings of the Himalayas. The chaotic and busy Kathmandu is the capital city which has a charm with all it's traditional market style shops selling everything from exotic clothing to mandala paintings.
The main religion is Hindu although Buddhism, Muslim and many other religions are prominant. The result is a county influenced by a wide variety of cultures and traditions with a rich tapestry of history which up until 2008 was a Sovereign state.
Nepal appeals to many as it has so much to offer from the stunning views of the Annapurna and Himalayan mountains to the peaceful Phewa Lake of Pokhara and the natural beauty of Chitwan National Park; or even the Base Camp of Mount Everest. Whether you are a thrill seeker, looking for relaxation or are a nature lover there really is something for everyone.

Although recovering from recent earthquakes of 2015, the people of Nepal truly have a spirit that is unbreakable and are some of the most friendly and welcoming people I have ever met.
Nepalese people are proud of their culture and have a friendly, warm nature that makes you feel like you are at home. Nepal is proud of it's traditions, but embraces modern society and has a fantastic ability to blend everything whilst retaining it's charm.
Well run hotels are very affordable and offer good facilities, we stayed in the Festoon Hotel in Kathmandu and were very pleasantly surprised by the service we were given. Breakfast was plentiful, the hotel offered good facilities and our rooms were spacious, a credit to the owners.
Kathmandu has a small airport and after landing it is easy to get around Nepal (internal flights to places such as Pokhara are very reasonably priced). I'd recommend the treks with guides and sherpas; who really are worth their weight in gold. We trekked the Kathmandu valley and the Annapurna circuit staying in a variety of hotels and b&bs, set against some of the most beautiful backdrops in the world.
If you are interested in history, the Swayambhunath Kathmandu is a must visit, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square all until recently contained beautifully preserved buildings; and although since the 2015 earthquakes much has changed and many places heavily impacted Nepal continues to offer so much in terms of it's character and historical value.
If it's spirituality you seek then there is no denying the beautiful prayer flags dotted around temples and mountains offer peaceful places for personal reflection. The villages dotted along the Annapurna circuit offer some of the most stunning views possible against a backdrop of natural beauty, but the trip is not complete without a visit to Poon Hill.

Nepal for me continues to be a place as described by those who love it most a place of 'Never Ending Peace and Love.' Whether it is the craziness of Kathmandu or the peacefulness of Poon Hill, you cannot help but love Nepal and it's people.
Nepal will always hold a special place in my heart.
